Our Beloved Prophet

As you have probably heard, the prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints passed away today. I'm really glad he can be with his family and especially with his wife, whom I know he missed very much. He will always be remembered for the temples he built, his awesome sense of humor and of course his energentic guidance of 13 million church members. We'll miss you President Hinckley!

1 Job 2 Jobs Red Jobs Blue Jobs

Darth Vader and the Ocean

This picture was from a draft I had for awhile... I couldn't resist. I wanted to include it even though it has nothing even remotely in common with anything in this post.

YAY FOR EMPLOYMENT!

After a couple of weeks of job hunting and many many phone calls and resumes later, I got hired! Twice today!

One of my jobs is helping out in the kindergarten classrooms in a local elementary. I AM SO EXCITED. Finally, a chance to hang out with people on my maturity level. I have lots of experience teaching adults, but I wanted to see how I would like the kid-ohs. The Supervisor showed me the demographic of the classes in the school, and wow, it looks kinda scary. Even in the best classes, only 1/3 of the students read at grade level. There are also a lot of move-ins and outs and most of the kids are "high risk". But am really exited and hopeful about helping them, especially since they are so young and have their lives ahead of them. I'm not too worried. Besides, how could you NOT be cute when you're 5 years old?

The other job was kinda spur of the moment. I saw a sign as I was driving to the interview for the first job in a flower shop window that said you could make a butt-load of money driving around Valentine's day. So I went in and they hired me on the spot because I was 1) Breathing and 2) Had a driver's licence. Anybody who has EVER hung out with me knows I cannot find things worth a durn. Seriously. The city I've lived my whole life in is built on a grid, and I get lost regularly. I think I'll look over a map before I go. This could be interesting.
I'm also going to be helping out before then in the store, doing customer service stuff for a whoping $6 and hour.... I thought minimum wage was 6.15 at least. meh, it's only until valentine's day. I have some more interviews lined up for other jobs that aren't temporary. Plus, I've always wanted to see what it was like working in a flower shop. My Aunt used to run her own flower business, and it looked fun.

So school aide and flower shop... can I get any more girly?

English Majors Do It With Shakespeare

I am still unemployed. I got an e-mail saying a company was interested and would set up an interview in the comming weeks, but that is, well, WEEKS from now. So for now I'm still waiting, doing absolutely nothing productive. I guess I should go over to my parents' house and start packing up all my stuff so I won't have to do it later. Or maybe I should save that for later, who knows. I still don't know for sure when my mom is going to St. George to take care of my grandma, so it might be a good excuse to go over there and spend time with my dad when he's there by himself.

Be sure to vote on my poll!

Here's another career I am thinking about, I'm sure my mom would love it:

¿Y ahora... que?

Yay for getting a blog! I've finally put down my fire-roasted rodent, crawled out of my cave, and joined the 21st century. That's right. I caved in to peer pressure. (or in this case caved out?)

I just graduated from the University with a degree in English and Linguistics. (kinda the reason I chose my blog title- it means "and now what?" in Spanish) Now I'm out in the world looking for work. I've found a couple of leads, and am revising my resume, writting cover letters, and praying to the 7 sea Gods that I get a bite. I might not teach right away, but eventually I hope to get there.

Funny Story: I went to the career center at my university, and my counsilor is aprox. 600 years old. The End.

Another Funny Story, While I'm thinking about it: I went to Hawaii over christmas, to celebrate graduation, birthday, christmas etc. for the rest of my life. We went to this resturant and the "water guy" (the guy who fills up your water glass) was extreamly cute. Seriously. So of course I do what any single girl would do: I drank water like it was going out of style. This guy must have thought I just crossed the Sahara after my 4th glass before we even got our food.
Well, my dish was kinda spicy so I really DID need some water, but all I had left was ice. Desperate times called for desperate measures, and I chomped away. Of course right after I got a mouthful of it, water guy came. Poop. Now my mouth was full of ice. I tried to smile, but some ice escaped my mouth and onto my plate. Double poop. He asked me if I wanted more water. My dashing reply was "yesh" and I managed to say a slurred "thanks" as he filled up my glass, but I could see he was snickering. The End.

Now for some Marley. I always promised that if I ever had a Blog, I would put some of Bob on it first thing.
Enjoy!
